How can I alter the swags?
We cannot give you instructions to alter the swag in width or depth. To go beyond the sizes given would require the shape and size of the pattern and the pleat angles to change. There is no formula for a quick fix.
Can the jabots be altered?
No, since the jabot is cut on a curve, we cannot give you alteration instuctions.
My client wants the Parisian, but her window is 70”. What can we do?
You can add a swag from 9272 (Versailles). Use the Raised Parisian at each side and the Versailles in the middle. Each swag can be the same width. For large windows add more Versailles swags.
Can the Parisian Raised Swag be used on an arched window?
No, the Parisian can extend up only about 6” to 8”. However it can work for some Eyebrow windows. A lot of designs are given in our Designer’s Digest and Workroom Manual. Use the cross reference guide at the back of the book. It will give you the design page numbers.
I would like to make the swags with straight edges instead of scalloped edges. The pattern includes straight edge options for both the jabots and the tail. The pattern does not include this option for the swags. Will the pattern look right if I make the swags with a straight edge?
I did one with a straight edge and didn’t like it. That is why I didn’t give it as an option. It’s a judgement call. I suggest you do a mock up to see if you like it.
I am working with very expensive fabric repeat so when I cut the second jabot and swag I must turn the pattern over to position it over my design. Since the patterns are opaque why can’t you provide two of all the pieces when two have to be cut?
It would cost you a lot more money. A simple solution would be to use your first cut jabot on the fabric, right sides of fabrics together, and use that as the pattern for the next cut. Another solution is to place two layers of the fabric stacked, with right sides together, use the pattern to cut the pair at the same time.
