Do I have to use a specific pole diameter size?
The instructions tell you how to fit various size poles.
Should I cut the pole to the width of my window or
do I need to make it longer?
It depends on your brackets and finials. Determine how much
pole you need for the valance and if you need extra room at
each end to install the brackets and finials. It’s a
good idea to make the valance about 1 1/2” (each side)
wider than the window, if you can.
The pattern states that it should not be made less
than 32” wide. My window is 30“ wide. What will
happen?
Small sizes will cause the top pleats to pull against the
long tapered pleat (not allowing it to lay flat). Do a mock
up to see if you like the effect.
Where do you determine the “depth” of
the valance to be?
At about the middle of the valance, from the top of the valance
to the bottom of the valance, not including any trim, not
including the pole.
How can I convert the pattern to a board mount instead
of a pole mount?
We have recently added those instructions to all the Moreland
instruction booklets. You can also get them on our TIP_OF_THE_MONTH_Feb_2005.
They are also in the Manual, page 6A-95.
When I add 2 1/4” to the valance for a board
mount, should I also do the same with the short jabot?
It isn’t necessary. Do it only if you want to.
How do you attach the long drapery panels to the
pole? You show them in 9266 and 9267.
Drapery instructions are not included in the package. Any
draperies or side panels used behind the valance will need
to be installed separately on their own rod.
Will it look OK to make this valance without fringe?
Yes, but it is a good idea to put a small cord in the bottom
seam to keep the lining from showing at the bottom egde.
