I would like to use a contrast fabric inside the pleats, can I do that with this pattern?
Yes. The pleat pattern can be cut separate and sewn into the valances.

Can I use this pattern for a box pleat valance that opens at the bottom and spreads out with buttons?
No, the pleats aren’t wide enough at the bottom. You can use 9282. Instructions are included for a board mount.
